I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me
How We Serve
We Feed the Hungry
We provide food baskets (including a meat product) for approximately 1,500 Oklahoman's in need every month. For the elderly or home-bound within Cleveland we will deliver food boxes.
During the year 2014 We were able to assist 16,529 family members in various ways.We distributed 3652 food boxes, 358 packages of diapers, and 74,000 garments. This does not include those who receive other products being distributed at that time (i.e. produce, etc.), as well as the other organizations (i.e. food pantries, churches, clubs, etc.) and Senior Citizen Centers throughout Northeastern Oklahoma receiving products from us for their communities. Again the numbers continue to increase.
During the year 2013, we were able to assist approximately 15,219 family members in various ways. 3,351 food boxes, 400 packages of diapers and approximately 70,000 garments of clothing were distributed. This does not include those who receive other products being distributed at that time (i.e. produce, etc.), as well as the other organizations (i.e. food pantries, churches, clubs, etc.) and Senior Citizen Centers throughout Northeastern Oklahoma receiving products from us for their communities. The numbers continue to increase.
Freedom House, a transitional living and life-coaching program, was started in 2011 and graduated our first client in 2012. We, along with our client, felt the program was a success! How exciting it was to see "Jane" make progress and reach some of her goals. The program was temporarily suspended due to the lack of funding but we are happy to report that it will be REINSTATED soon! A campaign to raise finances has begun, a Board has been formed and pledges for the Freedom House are coming in. Approximately $15,000 + has been raised thus far. Even though it is not up and running fully, we have still been able to provide several families, who have lost their homes in a fire, a place to live until other accomodations became available to them. We believe this is a much-needed program and so beneficial to those participating. Please join us in prayer about this matter. Also, if you are interested in donating to this cause please contact Pastor Bob (918-638-1641).
During the summer of 2010, The Manna Cafe was opened, which first began serving hot lunches to school-aged children (pre-K through 12th grade). After undergoing some renovation, The Manna Cafe re-opened December 5, 2011 and is now serving hot lunches to adults and families in economic need between 11:30 and 12:30, Monday through Friday. An extension of The Manna Cafe, The Manna Cafe II, opened March 26, 2012 in Osage, OK. As of June, 2013, The Manna Cafe II is not in operation at this time. During 2013, a total of 6,144 plates of food were served through both Cafes. Several area churches have committed their time and labor in helping with this outreach for which we are very grateful. The Manna Cafe I is located at 907 N. Broadway, Cleveland, OK.
During the year 2014 we served approximately 10,000 plates of food. That is an increase of nealy 4,000 from las year.
We Help Those in Need
Each month, approximately 6,000 donated garments (infants, children's, men's and women's) are laundered and distributed each month to those in need. We also offer furniture, small and large appliances (as available), dishes, household items, diapers, formula, baby items (cribs, car seats, etc.) toys, bedding, shoes, and numerous other items. All items have been donated except for some of the staple food products, which are purchased by the ministry. We set no boundaries.
Each November, a toy run is held to help provide toys for needy families at Christmas. Along with the toys, each family receives a turkey or ham with other items needed to prepare a Christmas meal. In December 2010, the ministry piloted a "Kids Helping Kids Campaign." The E.S.C.A.P.E. Youth Group teamed up with our local Head Start Program to collect food items for Christmas boxes for Head Start families.
E.S.C.A.P.E. Ministries also assists our local Emergency Management Teams during times of crisis (fires, blackouts, etc.) by providing whatever resources we may have available at the time
The ministry "reaches outside the 4 walls" locally and within other communities by teaming up with pastors, leaders, etc. in an effort to minister to needs and share the love of Jesus with others by conducting outreaches (photos of some of these outreaches can be viewed in the Photo Gallery) or by participating in various events, etc. by volunteering and sharing products on hand. We count it a privilege to be able to assist others.
